Ros Welch is located in the beautiful village of Haddenham in Buckinghamshire, convenient for Oxford.
One of the areas I specialise in is when Communication becomes difficult. The following is taken from a recent article of mine.
Make time for your conversations, be in the same room and turn off that mobile, try to talk about the problem without apportioning blame, is it an issue that can be identified that you both can see a solution for, allow each other to speak, maintain eye contact and try not to jump to conclusions or anticipate what the other person is going to say.
Is the problem making you unreasonably angry? Could it be triggering feelings of injustice from the past, could you be venting the anger you felt as a child? If this is happening; slow down your responses, be more considered and focus on both the actual issue being discussed and the words and expression of your partner.
You might be behaving like your Mum or your Dad, can you hear yourself using the expressions or taking the attitude of your parents? Is the point you are making what you truly believe? Is it current and relevant? Question yourself.
Never try to win an argument by starting another “and there’s another thing”, don’t drag up issues from the past, don’t generalise “you always..”, don’t intimidate by raising your voice, crying or standing too close, don’t take the easy way out “oh, its all my fault”, stay focussed on the problem, negotiate and consider the other persons point of view.

Together we identify goals with realistic outcomes in acceptable timescales. We work positively to make a lasting difference to accept the past, make change in the present, and enhance the future.
Unexpected change can be difficult to manage, it can be hard to think straight given the busy lives we lead, trying to make sense of the unpredictable can leave us anxious, stressed and angry. Life’s changes; redundancy, bereavement, loss, illness or broken relationships can leave us in tatters and Counselling can help you on your journey to acceptance.
“It was very easy to talk to Ros, the sessions were relaxed and comfortable, I felt really heard. She often challenged me and my ideas, I felt I learnt something at every session, I gained insight and self- awareness, it was like a layer of skin being peeled from my eyes.”
“I had always suffered low self esteem and never knew why, Ros was the 1st person who understood, she helped me see things from a different perspective. I feel confident and look forward to my future.”
Following a successful career in design, marketing and finance, following a series of life-changing events I became inspired me, now in my 50’s, to channel my experiences into helping others as a counsellor.
